Cindy--no Calgon, but I"m still waiting for you to reply to my email...

Time Warner is here to bury their cable. Let's see if they can get that done without cutting the phone line!

<brag alert> Joe just finished his first college class. He got an A and didn't even need to take the final! I told him he can now check "some college" on job application forms.

OK, it was just a computer class, but it was very good for learning how the system works and building up his confidence. He almost had to take part of the final for Excel because the teacher didn't have a record of him turning in all of his assignments. He had listened to me, though, and saved all of his papers when they were returned. Because of that, he could show her that he had turned in the work and was able to get all the points. I'm not at all upset with her. I consider this to be a gift from God because it showed Joe exactly why it's important to save everything until the class is over.

Ds keeps giving me the countdown to leaving for Michigan Adventures...it's about 18 hours and some minutes now. They are leaving at 5:30a.m...I think that means I will have to get up around 5 in the morning...Of course he is telling me he is going to wake me up at 4 a.m. so that he has plenty of time to get to the church. If he wakes me up at 4, he will have PLENTY of time to WALK to the church!!!
BTW, pray they have a safe trip and pray for the pastor, his wife, and all of the chaperones. There are about 60 teens going tthis year. They are taking 2 vans and the big blue bus.

Did ya ever have the little kids get up and fix breakfast before you woke up?
Well, we don't have any little kids at home, instead we have two cats. Would ya believe that ds put the bag of cat food on top of the fridge last night and guess what? The cats decided to fix breakfast for themselves... TINK and Sweetie

Want to hear something funny? We are sitting in MickeyD's and ds told me that the old guys at the table across the aisle were talking about Farmville, the Facebook game...Ah, no, they are talking about farming their real farms!!!!

Ds and the 60 or so teens were seen leaving town in two vans and a bus. It's going to be quiet here today.

Pray that they have a good and safe trip.
BTW, it cooled off here. It's about 59 and he took a sweatshirt with him. Hope it warms up enough that they don't get cold on the water rides.

Praying for a good trip, Judy. Maybe the weather will be warmer where he is going.

I would LOVE 59 degree weather right about now. We're seeing daytime highs in the 90s, sometimes over the triple digit mark.

I love fall, too!!

The weather did warm up. It's supposed to be in the high 70's there right now.
They aren't supposed to be back until around 11:30 tonight.

I think it's what Ds waits for all year!!

You could come to Michigan. I just have to warn you ahead of time. When the cows in KS are grazing on Christmas Day (ds had pics of this),
the cows in MI, are huddled up and giving out ice cream!!

Thanks for praying everyone and keep praying for all of them, OK?

BTW, I know we are in the right town. Something awesome is happening here, at least for the teens. I can feel it!! There are about 4 churches that have gotten together to do more things for and with the teens. What is awesome is that they have all agreed to do this to promote Jesus not denominations!!

OK, I am bored!!! I have already read a book, played on the computer, looked for lots of cool jobs online, most of which would involve joining something like Americorp or the Red Cross and moving somewhere....
Ds won't be back for at least 7 hours, we must spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME talking to each other because the apartment is very quiet and the cats got mad when I said somelthing. They just yawned and went back to sleep...

OK, when he goes to college, I am going to either have to adopt some kids or get a very awesome and time consuming job!!!

Judy, when ds goes to college, you can move in with me. I will have PLENTY to keep you busy!

Ashley is getting another horse in for training in the next week or so. He belongs to a friend of hers, and the friend's husband is threatening to sell him because he's not kid safe. Ashley is really good at making horses bomb proof. She will probably get paid in hay (which is fine with me, because it's that much less we will have to buy) because they don't have a lot of money, but they grow their own hay. He's a cute little horse - welsh pony and something else, can't remember what - but he is afraid of everything. Just the kind of challenge she likes.

That sounds like Ashley is going to have a big challenge.

I would love to come and help you with the goats....the horse thing, well I have been stepped on twice by some and after getting bitten in the side by a small sheltland pony, well, I guess you can understand where I am going here....How can such a small pony have such a huge mouth??

Ds and all of the kids are home!! He said he liked Michigan's Adventure better than Cedar Point!! BTW thanks for praying. Ds said he was in line with a couple of his friends and a ride malfunctioned. They got the people off of it OK and then he waited in line for forty minutes for them to get it going. They were testing it and managed to get one of the cars stuck in the middle of the track upside down.
Then they shut the whole ride down and made everyone leave the platform...

Cindy, My kids seem to have growing pains and I don't understand it. How can I tell if something is caused by "growing pains" or not? Mr. Manly is complaining that his knees are hurting. He said they started feeling weird yesterday and then began to hurt. A little bit ago he was crying and saying they hurt so bad he couldn't walk. MM said that she went through a phase when her knees hurt off and on. I don't remember stuff like that, but dh does and he said that MM's hurt for about a month off and on, then they were fine. This sort of thing worries me. Should it?

I can't say for sure in Mr. Manly's case, but Joe had awful growing pains. When he was around 12-13, he grew six inches and complained of hurting a lot. I've had people describe it like being put on a rack and having everything stretched out. What I did was measure him whenever he complained. Once he saw that he'd grown quite a bit, it helped him understand the reason for the pain and made it more bearable. If you measure Mr. Manly and he doesn't seem to be growing, then it might be a reason for concern. Usually, when Joe had pain, we'd find that he'd grown at least a half inch since the last time we measured. We were measuring at least monthly during that time.

That's a good idea, Sue. I'll measure Mr. Manly today.

My oldest gs says all of his muscles hurt a lot...OK, ds just told me that he bench presses 180 pounds for about half an hour at a time on the weight machine. I was going to say that he has grown a foot or so in the past 3 or 4 years..

I am SO tired. I was up till 2 or 3 and then got back up around 6:30. Anyhow, I fell asleep on the couch when I was listening to a dvd. The drunk guy must have seen that I was on the couch in the living room...our windows are low. He came banging on the door, woke me up and said, yup, they are home and walked to a car in the parking lot and took off ....I am going to go to his apartment later, pound on the door, and SEE what that was about! I think I am going to wait until just before I leave to pick up Dd from work tomorrow morning!!!!
