The Waltons. Is that the same Waltons that had a TV show about it years ago? If so, who is the author?

Sorry for the delayed reply - I've had a few days away. Yes, the same Waltons. This book was by Robert Weverka. It was the Easter Story, based on the same episode (I think it was a 'double') the one where Olivia has polio.

And to continue.... I finished with Dannie of Cedar Cliffs, it was ok but not great.

Picked up a cheap copy of the Shack over the weekend and read that. Found it quite thought provoking with some really helpful analogies (if that's the right word for them) - like the walking on the water thing in it.

Now reading Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, that my daughter lent me. It's very interesting :) (so far - am on about page 150)

Yes Crossbearer, I do. Albeit I speak very broken Spanish. I understand Spanish quite a bit better than I can speak it. I am of Spanish decent(Spaniard, not just Spanish speaking in general) but born in the US. I spent 3 months in Spain back in 04, and 2-3 weeks in Nicaragua in 06, plus.....23 years on a job site with primarily Spanish speaking workers.(Dad owned a construction business, and I rode along since I was one year old)

What I really miss about spain, In particular the Barrio we were in inside madrid, was the street market on tuesdays(or thursdays some weeks). I miss being able to walk around and see how the neighbors made some spare cash. One VERY nice little old lady made sketches of all of the major buildings that I just ADORED. I ended up spending about 10 USD to bring back 15 or so small paintings/drawings of the various monuments and buildings(Almost what we see in draftsmans plans, but more detail)

I wonder if I'd be able to read Don Quixote, or whether the Spanish is too archaic for me. I've read Borges in Spanish, but that's modern, and new world.

(I had originally spelled it "Don Quijote". Ha ha.)

It is a pain, not because of the archaic, but because it is written.....Weird. I don't exactly know how else to say it. Reading it, then translating it, seems to me like trying to read Old English, after you pass it through 2 other languages....(that and some of the conjugations and tenses are not what you expect.)

Now that I think of it, I've read the entire Bible in Spanish. And no, I don't translate into English in my head...unless I want to. So maybe I can cope with Cervantes.

I've gotten things out of the Spanish version that I did not get out of the English version.

I finished the Margaret Atwood book (Alias Grace) It had a big surprise near the end and then you found out the last bit by letters between some of the characters. It was based on a real murder case from the 1800s.

Now started on Mercy by Jodi Picoult. Have wanted to read this one for a while and found it in the library the other day.

I just finished "Stones into Schools," which is the follow-up to "Three Cups of Tea." I would highly recommend both!

I finished Mercy (Jodi Picoult) - didn't like it so much as the others of hers that I've read. Much of the book was about a husband cheating on his wife....

Now (re)reading Healing Dreams by Russ Parker. It's a Biblical view of how awareness of dreams can help people develop spiritually.
