I just finished 9th Judgement by James Patterson. Now I'm reading his book, Worst Case. Both were ready for me at the library at the same time last week.

A Gift Of Grace - Amy Clipston

I couldn't get into the other book I'd tried reading. I'll try it again some other time.

Started on The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. It's been collecting dust on my shelf since I bought it, until my daughter recommended me another book of hers (Alias Grace), so that got me more interested to finally read it.

Finished Penelopiad - it was a fast, easy read and pretty good too. Lent it to my daughter and she's also finished it already and liked it.

Thinking of starting on Alias Grace by the same author (Margaret Atwood)

In the meantime, I read the whole book Not Regina by Christmas Carol Kauffman - it was excellent - about in the 1500s when there was persecution of the Anabaptists in Switzerland by the State Church. It's one of those once you start you don't want to stop.

"Manifest Presence" by Pastor Jack Hayford...

One of the best books I've read on worship in a long time! It's deep & meaty, but well worth the investment of time to read.

Started on Dannie of Cedar Cliffs by Christmas Carol Kauffman - it's about someone who grew up with the pioneers of the Mennonite Church in the US.

Trying to force my way through "The Hobbit" And the lord of the rings trilogy. I don't think they are "bad" per se, I just do not take well to Tolkien's style of writing.(Never been able to read more then one in a row.)

Aelric,

About 40 years ago, I just loved The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. The style was just right for me, if not for you. Pure escapism.

After I became a Christian, I was embarassed at still being thrilled by Tollkien's stuff, since it sounds like pre Christian celtic mythology. It was a great relief to me to find out the Tollkien was a Christian. In fact, Tollkien was instrumental in converting C.S. Lewis from agnosticism to Christianity.

And of course, there's my handle and my tag line, in here.

Strider, I respect Tolkien for what it is, and its influence on modern fantasy, but, I still have to trundle through it. I feel like the art snob walking out loudly complaining durring a die hard movie, every time I stop reading it, but for some reason, I just cannot take large doses of it. Something about his writing style just sets off my inner critic. Then again, so does Stephen King..........Yea. He just...Irks me for some reason.

Haven't finished reading this week, since my Kindle up and disappeared(And by that I mean I laid the paper down on it, and forgot about it) but now I have it, and will keep reading on.

I've temporarily halted Dannie of Cedar Cliffs because my son found a copy of The Waltons Easter (can't recall the author just now and it's upstairs and I'm down - I tried googling but can't find it) - anyway I'm really into that one for the moment.
