Thanks for sharing, Adrenalinejunkie. :)

I've come up with a way to replicate the pain for people who ask, but I have to ask them if I may hurt them first. I employ a law enforcement technique used to gain control over an "unruly" subject. It gets the point across.

Good way to show them.

I'm all for education. If people ask me questions, I'll answer them the best that I can. Since I've been diagnosed, I've found out that I know a lot of people who also have fibromyalgia. Some know what it is, and others don't. People won't learn unless they are taught. When it comes to health issues, ignorance is not bliss. Better to know what's going on so that you know what you're fighting. Well, that's my thinking anyway. You know what you may expect, and hopefully be ready to do something about it, if possible.

People often just think you're being lazy or trying to get out of doing something. The couple that I live with do the vast majority of things because I just can't. I do what I can, but it's not much.

I was happy to be told that I have fibromyalgia. I have so many health issues that I thought were separate from each other. To find out it was all from ONE condition, I finally thought, "At least now I know I'm not nuts!" I still have the health conditions, but at least I know what the cause is. Not some random thing.

Roberta, I know what you mean about back pain. I was diagnosed years ago with back problems. That's worsened, but with the fibromyalgia being there, it's so much worse.

Great article! I've put it on Facebook! Haven't listened to the voices yet, but I'll go back to it. Thanks!

ouch. This is really a yucky day for me. Very painful. So much that I wanted to do. I doubt I'll get the green beans picked. However, I would like to get the corn frozen and make some muffins that I just got a recipe for and people in my house have been wanting banana bread really badly. Then there is housework. I just don't know if I'm going to be able to get any of it done.

Today started off really good for me, relatively painless. But after playing outside with my little brother a few hours ago I've been hurting REALLY badly. This is probably the worst pain I've been in this year. I'm not really sure why I'm in so much pain though. Maybe it had to do with getting 2 thunderstorms earlier and having insanely high humidity.

Ouch, you two!

Roberta, just do what you can, and either try to get some help for the other things or leave them. Unfortunately we can't do all the things we sometimes want to.

AJ, I know weather definitely affects me. Temperature extremes do bad things to my body.

I'm so sorry both of you are in so much pain.

My back gives me a lot of pain. Yes, I have some that is not fibro related, but a lot of it is. Had a splitting headache this morning when I woke up. This afternoon, I've had the sensation that somebody's been rubbing me down with coarse sandpaper. OUCH! Taken the last of my pain meds for the day.

I got some things done, but I gave away most of the corn and tomatoes because I knew I couldn't do anything with them and I didn't want them to go to ruin. It was fortunate that my pastor was having a birthday party for his son and he didn't get a chance to go shopping for the meal. They put the corn on the cobb that I had to good use and they used the tomatoes too. I also sent them a bunch of potatoes that I had. I have a neighbor who picks everything out of both of our gardens and then brings them to me to process. He has a freezer and a pantry full and ours is getting close. The only thing that I am going to do with the tomatoes is make salsa so I just tell all the neighbors to stop by here and get all the tomatoes they want. Apples will be in soon and that means lots of applesauce and applebutter. I'll also be freezing some of those for apple pies and apple crisps.

My pain is moderate today.

Sounds like you've been a real blessing, helping people out with food. I'm sure they appreciate that. Hopefully by the time the apples are in, that if you plan to do any baking etc with them, that you'll be in a better place, painwise.

Good for you, though.

Hey everybody. How are you all doing?

I've got my chronic pain management sessions coming up in a couple of weeks. It'll be interesting to see how much of it I can do. I'm not flexible, so some of the exercises could get a little interesting. I'm hoping it's not a new age thing.

Pain management put off my appointment and I don't know when I'll be going now.

I hope you're all doing well and staying painfree.

Painfree? I've heard the term before, but haven't been able to say it about myself in ages. Going to MN tomorrow by train. It's about an 18 hour trip. The trip back home will only be about 12 hours, but it's by car so it's hard to move around.

Sorry to hear that you've been in so much pain, Roberta.

Can you explain just what this is? What do you have to do in these sessions? How do they figure you can 'manage' chronic pain? I just can't seem to get my mind around this.

At this stage, I have no idea what they are going to do to try and relieve chronic pain.

The chronic pain management sessions are something that are being put together by a physiotherapist and a clinical psychologist. It's only 2 mornings. I take it they will try to get us to do some mediitation. I hope it's not new age, otherwise I'll be meditating on Jesus. I take it there will be some stretching involved. Working on maybe, time management so that you don't get yourself totally stressed out about things, and therefore causing yourself more pain.

I have my first session at the end of next week. I'll tell you more about it when I find out what we're doing.

I hope you get a little bit of a chance to get out and stretch a bit every now and again. I know you're looking forward to getting home, but if you can do it with a bit less pain, that would be good too.

We actually got home in just under 12 hours. I think that is the fastest that we've ever made it. After dealing with in-laws for a week and the stress of traveling, I'm in a lot of pain today.
